Oozie Rice (Rice Pilaf)
I love the ease and convenience of making it in my Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker. It’s actually my secret to making it quick and foolproof.
Oozi Rice (rice pilaf) in my Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker
Ingredients:
2.5 cups of short grain rice
2.5 cups of water or broth heated + 1.5 tsp Turmeric (for color-optional)
2 heaping Tbs of Ghee, Samna or Oil
@hibahthefoodie
1 bag of frozen peas (6oz)
+ 1/2 Tbs butter or oil
1 bag of frozen crinkle cut carrots (6oz) +1/2 Tbs butter or oil
1 lb of ground beef
1 small yellow onion (chopped)
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup of raw almonds and/or cashews
+1 tsp canola oil
First, wash rice- strain it.
Now set the Ninja Foodi pressure cooker to sauté & add the 1/2 Tbs of butter and once it melts add peas- sauté peas on high heat until cooked. Set aside.
Then do the same with the carrots. Set aside.
Next, sauté onion until golden then add ground beef- cook until browned and add salt and pepper. Set aside.
Finally, the samna or oil to the pressure cooker, once it heats up add the rice.
Mix rice well until it’s all covered in the samna. Mix for 1-2 more minutes then add the broth. Give it one more mix. Cover with pressure cooker lid and pressure cook for 3 minutes on high, next natural release for 10 minutes.
Finally- quick release- fluff the rice and add the peas, carrots, and ground beef immediately. Mix well.
Garnish with the air fried nuts.
To make nuts:
Put the nuts and canola oil in a bowl and mix well so that they are coated evenly. Next put them in the air fryer for 3 minutes. Make sure you don’t burn them. Set aside.
Enjoy
